There are some manufacturing variances between pieces, but nothing that causes it to be unuseable. This shelf has the pole in 2 pieces with a connector. Sometimes when you connect it, the resulting pole has a bow/curve to it.

Shelving unit had some issues
One shelf was hard to place on the posts and hard to secure it. The wheels keep coming loose so that it unbalances the unit. I have to keep tightening the wheels to the posts.
